North West Non League is a site that has been set up to rediscover some of the forgotten (or partially forgotten) amateur football leagues and cups of Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
Not all of the competitions are defunct - but for those that are still going, this site will detail tables and member clubs, where limited historic information is currently published.
You can access the leagues in the menu on the left. Once you have selected a league, a sub-menu will appear with detailed member club information, league tables (or results if Cup). Note that all the results and detail that I discover for this site, will also be added to archives.football should it not already be there.
Completed Leagues
- The Lancashire Amateur League (1893) is complete, including extensive coverage of their representative games. Some results and detail remain elusive though, including who the 2nd season champions were. So even though it is completed as much as I can, I am still keeping an eye out for what is missing.
In Early Stages
- The Manchester Junior Cup is being worked on from the beginning 1887/88 up to the name change to the Manchester FA Challenge Trophy in 1971. So far I have completed seasons 1887/88 to 1905/06 and I am currently working on 1906/07.
- I have completed the early seasons of the Manchester Amateur League from its 1903 start, up to the 1909/10 season. The 1907/08, 1908/09 and 1909/10 seasons have some missing data, especially the lower divisions, so sources are currently being double checked where possible.
What's Next
- I intend to get all the leagues/cup up to the 1910 point along with the Manchester Amateur League. Firstly this will be the Manchester Junior Cup, and then the original Manchester League's 2 seasons 1890/91 and 1891/92. I will then run the opening Lancashire & Cheshire League season 1909/10 before beginning work on the second edition of the Lancashire Amateur League 1899/00 up to 1910 for now.
- I will then move on to 1910-1920, including starting work on the South East Lancashire League
- I will then complete move through the decades, updating each league in turn
- Finally, I may add more (eg the Manchester Amateur Cup or the Heaton Park & District League amongst others) but I already have enough to be going on with for now

10 Jan - Lots of updates to club founded/folded dates as they appear in previously unknown leagues. Also Oldham Emmanual info updated as they actually folded before playing any games in the 1906/07 season
24 Dec - Completed the detail of the 1905/1906 Manchester Junior Cup results and updated Club Detail page, as well as various misc updates to the site, including revised founded/folded dates and increased detail for some of the clubs

27 Aug - Added 1st Round Replay and 2nd Round Manchester Junior Cup results 1898/99
25 Aug - Updated the formatting of all the Manchester Junior Cup result tables, and started adding the 1898/99 results - 1st Round now done
19 Aug - Updated Manchester St Augustine's and traced a few missing results for 1898/99 Manchester Junior Cup.
18 Aug - Updated information on a number of Manchester Junior Cup clubs, including adding 26 new teams for 1898/99. Also updated info on Gorton Parish Church on the Manchester Amateur League page.
11 Aug - Completed the preliminary work for 1898/99 season.
9 Aug - Found a couple of missing 1st Round results from 1889/90 season of the Manchester Junior Cup, and 2 missing results involving Hollinwood from 1890/91. Also corrected information about Hooley Hill Caledonians, Manchester St Bride's, Manchester Willard, Rusholme, Stretford, Stretford South End, Urmston and West Manchester Swifts.
8 Aug - Complete re-design of the web site and all data is now moved over. Currently working on the 1898/99 Manchester Junior Cup.
